Tom Scott - Multimedia Composer

" I believe that one of the most exciting aspects of composing with technology is the enabled ability to recreate complex experiences and to present something which is at times overwhelming, sometimes beyond immediate understanding, and occasionally even illogical. It may be in these complex, abstract, and fragmented experiences that we can finally lose ourselves in temporal mystery and return with something of value from an experience: maybe recognising a pattern of truth; maybe discovering hidden aspects of oneself; or maybe awakening to a new consciousness." As a composer, Tom's work ranges from acousmatic compositions to audio/visual works. He was awarded the Musiques & Recherches residency prize in Metamorphoses 2006 (Belgium) and his film "The Projection of Dreams" (2007) was screened at the Exposures Film Festival. His work has been performed recently at festivals in Belgium, Mexico, Spain and Germany. He completed a Masters degree in electroacoustic composition (Supported by a 2003 PRS Foundation Scholarship) in which he received a distinction. He completed his PhD in electroacoustic composition at The Univeristy Of Manchester (supported by AHRC funding). Tom is currently lecturer in electro-acoustic composition at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
